.NET Framework - Image file names beginning with _MG* no longer seen by EW 3

I just discovered this today. All was okay last weekend. I installed SP1 this week.

All my site sources are file based webs.

I have an incredible number if image files that are named like _IMG_5457.JPG that have been publish with Expression Web.

Today I am updating some pages on various sites and have some images that now show a red x in the thumbnail, but the
link still works and brings up the image.

I have some loose ends with my logic trying to make sens how I got in this condition. I have noticed that EW no longer
sees those files in the folder list! I cannot rename then with EW.

I am wondering first, how to fix it. Because I cannot rename the files in EW because EW cannot see them, then EW will not fix
the html for me.

The source of those names is the Canon camera. If I shoot with RGB color space instead of Adobe color space, the files
are named with that underscore.

Any ideas or information appreciated. I have a lot of pages with those file names in the url and I need to rename a lot
of files on many webs.

In EW3,  Site->Site Settings - Advanced tag
Clear the box "Hide hidden files and folders"

In EW1 and 2 the box is labelled "Show hidden files and folders". Tick this
box.

Any file or folder with a name starting with an underline is normally hidden
in EW (except the _private folder from a FrontPage site).

It worked for over a year, all of a sudden, it does not work. I did not
do it. The Camera names the files first. I do rename many files, but I
append descriptive comment to the original filename when I edit for web
ready. It helps me find the original when I later want to redo the
image for some reason or another. I have 1.2 GB of images to search
since 1998.

Yeah, I know your right but as hind sight; only because I got slammed
with it, and I did nothing illegal, wrong or stupid (dumb... maybe).

Use your favorite image editor (or IrFanview - a freebie) to batch rename
the files.

Hi,
I can rename the files in a snap from an XP command prompt. That would require me to find and change all the urls
affected in a large amount of pages scattered across a lot of sub webs. Several tools would help me with that. The
sites still function. it is just publishing that is affected in this case.

I just found a setting...
In EW 3 Site Settings, Advanced Tab,
[x] "Hide files and folders that begin with an underscore character ('_')."

Hmmm.
It is not marked.
I guess that is why it used to work. Maybe SP1 has a bug, else MS has decide to change the design requirements
regarding that function. ...just guessing.

That box works correctly on my PC - hence my post at 10:00 am GMT yesterday.
Try ticking it (to hide the files) and click OK, then go back and clear it
again. The toggling may cause the function to work.

Web Expression crashing when exploring files .NET Framework I've got a new system, Windows Vista Home Premium, and just also switched from FrontPage 2003 to Expression Web for my website. I've been trying to work on my website for 1 hour now. Expression Web has crashed 10 times!!! Without exception, it's been when doing some kind of exploring in a directory but will then crash, etc. I'm not sure it's an Expression Web problem, or just a problem with Windows Explorer itself, given that it's always when
