.NET Framework - Converting Dreamweaver DWT to Expression DWT

Asked By Otterhoun on 29-May-07 01:15 PM
I have 2 web sites built on dreamweaver dynamic web templates. I want to
convert them so that the templates work in Expression Web (EW). This is what
I've done so far:

1. I added EW editable regions to the Dreamweaver DWT files. That worked fine.

2. I next tried attaching the revised DWT files to their associated HTM
files in EW. The problem here is that EW doesn't seem to know how to map the
dreamweaver editable regions in the HTM files to the expression web editable
regions in the revised DWT files.

Do I have to manually edit the code in the HTM files to insert the EW
editable regions and then try to attach again -- or is there a more efficient
way to do it?

Thanks!

if if is a simple Dreamweaver Template (in other words no conditional or
nested regions) you can use find and replace to charge the template syntax.
if you decide to try find and replace make a back up first.

On simple DWTs, aren't DW templates and EW templates identical?

Expression Web uses the same syntax as Dreamweaver 4 DWTs. The Dreamweaver
syntax clanged when the ability to add noted regions was added. Expression
Web DWTs work directly in Dreamweaver, at least in 8 and below. haven't
tried in Dreamweaver CS3 yet.
